Hey!
This will be my last post on Substack, but no worries. If you’re a subscriber, you don’t need to do anything. I will keep writing and I will move your subscription to my new platform.
Why move?
The principles of the Indieweb resonate with me. I want to own my content and my domain, to not be dependent on a platform that could go to shit at any point in time (like what happened to Twitter).
I have this substack, I have my own website, I have another website (in Dutch, for my nutrition coaching services). It’s a bit confusing, so I want to simplify things.
My personal website will be my main hub, going forward. I will write (in English!) about a couple main topics:
software testing and IT in general
healthy living (I’m working on a new initiative: Healthy Living for Desk Dwellers)
urbanism, music, and my random interests
The reason I had a substack page to begin with was mainly because I like the fact that you can have subscribers. I don’t like that I’m dependent on yet another platform that can do things I don’t agree with. I already copied everything I posted on here to my personal website. I feel like substack is transforming in yet another social media network, and I’m just tired of those.
My personal website used to run on Wordpress. Yes, used to. I moved it last weekend, to Ghost! Have you seen the shit that’s going on at Wordpress? It’s being ruined by yet another ManChild! I wanted to get the f out of there, so I moved to Ghost.
Ghost isn’t perfect, but it has a newsletter and subscriber function. I will port y’all there quite soon.
What will you get if you stay subscribed?
You will not get automatic e-mails for everything I post, that would get too spammy. I’m sending max one newsletter per week.
If you only want to follow me because I was here on Substack, you can unsubscribe in the next few days so you will not be moved.
Thanks for being a subscriber, and I hope you will stay with me when I move you over!
Cheers.
See you there, Ghost is great!
